Российская игра Cut the Rope всего за неделю после выхода под Android заняла первое место в списке платных приложений Android Market. Это большой успех для отечественных разработчиков, которые сделали один из самых успешных игровых проектов на мировом мобильном рынке. В AppStore игра на пятом месте среди платных приложений, а по темпам роста обгоняла график Angry Birds. Первый миллион скачиваний состоялся всего на девятый день после релиза, что является рекордом для платных игр в AppStore.
Кстати, издателем Cut the Rope является британская компания Chillingo — та же самая, что у Angry Birds.

The stock fell more than 20 percent in the morning but pared losses in the afternoon. It closed down 12.2 percent at 12,290 yen.
Nintendo on Thursday posted a net loss of 25.5 billion yen ($324 million) in the April-June period, almost on par with its loss a year earlier. Sales during the quarter slumped more than 50 percent.
The numbers forced Nintendo to slash its profit forecast for the full fiscal year through March by more than 80 percent.
The Kyoto-based company blamed its lackluster performance on a dearth of hit titles for the Wii and 3DS handheld device, as well as a strong yen. Analysts say Nintendo's problems run deeper.
The 3DS got off to a solid start when it launched in February to high hopes. But it has fizzled since then. The company moved just 710,000 units in the latest quarter, compared with 3.61 million in its debut quarter. Sales of the regular DS and Wii also fell sharply.
To fuel momentum, Nintendo decided it needed to cut prices just five months after it launched the 3-D version of its popular DS.
The device will cost 15,000 yen in Japan starting Aug. 11, down from 25,000 yen. In the U.S., the price drops to $169.99 from $249.99 on Aug. 12.
JPMorgan immediately downgraded its rating on Nintendo shares to "Underweight."

The 3DS lets players view 3-D games and videos without special glasses. It launched with much fanfare but lost sales momentum. The value of 3-D hasn't been apparent to everyone. Handheld gaming devices are also facing competition from the iPhone and other smartphones with games such as the wildly popular "Angry Birds."
The latest price cut should give the PlayStation 3 a boost, just as the previous one did in 2009.
"It is no secret that the PlayStation 3 has been struggling for some time against the Microsoft Xbox 360 in North America," though it did slightly better in Europe, said Jesse Divnich, an analyst at Electronic Entertainment Design and Research.
Divnich does not believe Microsoft Corp. will follow with its own price cut immediately. Rather, the maker of the Xbox 360 "will likely wait to see the commercial impact of the price disparity" between the Xbox and the PlayStation. The Xbox 360's popular 250 gigabyte version costs $300. A version with a smaller hard drive, 4 gigabytes, is $200.
Microsoft said it does not talk about pricing plans in advance and so far it has made no announcements about price cuts.
In all, Microsoft has sold 55 million Xbox 360s worldwide, and Sony has sold 52 million units of the PS3. Online sales of cut trees are still a fraction of the 27 million-plus Christmas trees expected to be purchased this year, says the National Christmas Tree Association. Some 33% of folks still trek to the choose-and-cut farms, the group says.
But online tree sales -- which at Sears costs as much as $189.99 for a 9-foot fraser fir tree from North Carolina -- are becoming a lucrative business for some big chains. Some retailer sites cajole shoppers to purchase a tree even as folks sign on to just to purchase ornaments.
Not everyone is keen on this trend. "It's a sad reflection of where American society is going," says Lisa Mastny, a spokeswoman for the Center for a New American Dream, a non-profit group that encourages a less product-focused seasonal celebration.
DeVere Keen Gamble, a massage therapist in Durango, Colo., says she would never order a tree online. "If you're too busy to go out and get your Christmas tree, then you're too busy, period."
Not so, says Jennifer Dominiquini, marketing chief for seasonal and outdoor living at Sears. "We're trying to give every consumer the opportunity to shop how, when and where they want," she says. The time saved can mean extra family time to decorate a tree, she says.

And Verizon Wireless shaved $50 off the Motorola Droid Xyboard for customers who sign up for a two-year data plan.
A gradual decline in prices is inevitable for consumer electronics makers. But the recent downward pressure on tablet pricing also reflects a broader volatility in the market that has been turned upside down by the arrival of cheaper, snazzier models. And some manufacturers may be looking -- or forced -- to get out of the business.
A decline in tablet prices will continue throughout the year, analysts predict. Reasons:
Market correction. Some tablets just weren't well made and need to be discontinued, says Avi Greengart, analyst at Current Analysis. "If you have an uncompetitive product, you're going to have to take it out and move the inventory. And one way to do that is to lower price," he says.
RIM warned in a recent earnings statement that its tablet sales have slowed, and analysts speculate that the company could be looking to get out of the business. "You don't cut the price (that much) to create market share. You do that to exit the market," Greengart says.
Flawed pricing strategy. Many tablets are simply overpriced, says Roger Entner of Recon Analytics. Apple can afford to charge $499 for an entry-level iPad given the large app market and the brand appeal. But other manufacturers should be more realistic, Entner says.
